Our History

Brock's Riverside Grill was established on September 2, 1999, by Leo LaPointe and Todd Crompton. From the very beginning, Jason Smith and Billy LaPointe worked closely alongside the founders, playing an integral role in the restaurant’s early development. When Jason and Billy eventually assumed responsibility for the daily operations, they brought with them tremendous experience in the hospitality, food, and beverage industry, ensuring the continued growth and success of Brock’s.

Billy LaPointe brought valuable industry experience to Brock’s, having started his career in the grocery business at just 16 years old. Over the years, he successfully opened and operated four Shoppers Food Warehouse locations, ultimately serving as a Store General Manager at the time Brock’s was founded. His journey with Brock’s began in October 2001 when he joined as a bartender, steadily taking on greater responsibilities that led to a management role and eventually a partnership with Jason Smith. Jason's own industry roots trace back to his time at The Landing Restaurant on Smith Mountain Lake, where he worked during a break from his studies at Mary Washington College. After returning to Fredericksburg in August 1999, he met Brock’s founders Todd and Leo and quickly became a committed, pivotal and reliable member of the Brock’s team. Following his graduation in 2002, Jason assumed a management role within the company, which ultimately evolved into a business partnership with Billy.

Both owner/operators consistently demonstrate a deep passion for the hospitality industry. They have continued to focus their efforts into providing the highest quality of food and service at our location along the Rappahannock River in Old Town Fredericksburg Virginia.

Founders

Our restaurant, Brock’s Riverside Grill, was founded in September, 1999 by Leo LaPointe and Todd Crompton. Leo worked in various restaurants in Northern Virginia and D.C. such as Ruth’s Chris, Blackie’s D.C., Samantha’s and Sweet Water Tavern. A graduate of James Madison University, Todd also has extensive experience in a variety of restaurants in Northern Virginia and D.C. such as, Sign of the Wale, Blackie’s D.C., The Harbor Inn, Main St. USA and Sweet Water Tavern.
